Thailand

Our flying four days of frantic filmmaking produced some of the funniest moments of the shoot, from the bars of Bangla Road in Patong Beach to the beautiful beach babe elephants in Khoa Lak we suffered through Jet lag, foreign food, language difficulties and way too much alcohol, (Aaron excepted) and transport designed for midgets and still pulled it off , my heart felt thanks go out to Matt, Aaron , and my darling wife Rhonda for putting up with an extremely heavy schedule of almost continuous filming.
See pictures of the beach babes so cute,
Its a break over Christmas and then we start editing.
Merry Christmas to all the cast and crew .

Last Offical Shooting day

Last offical Day

More photos to follow on the blog....

End of week two

Well, its two weeks down and one very full week to go, everybody is worked up, the footage assembly by Matt Rees shows how good Danny and Matt are at producing spectacular imagery on Sony HDV cameras as they battle light, rain, wind and an occasionally shitty Director. This was a busy week at Surf Road and now we hit the road again from Dee Why in the north to Randwick in the East.
Our stars are shinning scene after scene as Aaron, Felicity and the cast and crew cultivate the production of Souvenir into a finely crafted piece of modern art.

On with the show and let our spirits soar to new heights.

First Day Filming

DV- DOP

Started filming in Byron Bay today after a few minor dramas, some crew missed their flight up from Sydney whilst some equipment on charge in Byron exploded. Apparently these type of dramas are not unusual on a SurfRoad Films production. Glorious sunshine for the first day of filming meant great beach shots aand minor sunburn. Highlight for DV and Mackenzie so far was the drive up in Matt's Peugeot convertable.

An early start for some of the crew as we devoured waffles and bacon at the main house we are renting here in sunny Byron Bay. I can see out to the lighthouse about a half kay away. Logistics: getting gear, crew, cast and props down to the local beach as quick and painlessly as possible in one rental van and a four wheel drive that’s the dedicated catering car and hero vehicle. But we arrived, we set up shots and smothered sunscreen at seven am while sunlight crept over the headland to bathe our set in nice warming bright. By nine it was hot. By eleven we wanted to be in the water with the locals, damn cast getting to go in all the time, dropping in on the smooth little two foot right handers at the east break of Watego’s.

We are a small crew, doubling up on jobs and driving and swapping and juggling. Its not ideal though we have fun. More crew and cast fly in today for the week, we’re wrapped and chilling waiting for them, going over the rushes and about to talk thru the next days shots. David the director has just confirmed a local restaurant for our shoot tomorrow, I think some charisma on his part swayed the owner. Our German camera-assist Gregor has disappeared; the town beckons him.

I don't want to write anything, I'll just post up up the photos.
